Every year the European zinc-coating industry uses more or less 400.000 zinc tons in order to protec about 5.000.000 of new steel tons. In Europe it is possible find something like 1.000 hot zinc-coating industrial plants. The major part of the industries that operate in this domain are characterized by small or medium dimensions and they are very often family managed. Despite this wide use of zinc in the industrial domain, experts have predicted that next year the global request of this material will decrease of the 0,3%. This is what Goldman Sachs said talking about the commodities market, considering the possibility that next year will be very difficult and characterized by a surplus of requests. Reading what Goldman has stated, it is possible to understand that, with reference to zinc, the decrease of requests will be inferior if compared to which one that will characterize all the other industrial metals because the big suppliers are rationalizing it in order to face the low price levels. According to the new Goldman’s estimations, the price of a ton will arrive to 1.150 dollars compared to the 1.475 $ previously predicted.
